The composite climatic zone experiences the climatic conditions of both hot and dry and warm and wet. Hence it is also called as Hot and Dry alternating with Hot and wet climatic zone.

Their characteristics change from season to season, alternating between long hot dry periods to shorter periods of concentrated rainfall and high humidity.

The radiation is very high in summers and diffused in the monsoon season. The day temperatures vary between 32-degree Celcius to 40-degree Celcius in summers and night temperatures range between 27 to 32-degree Celcius. On the other hand in winter the day temperatures are between10 – 25 – degrees Celcius during the day and fall up to 4-degree Celcius during the nights.

In the dry periods, the relative humidity in these regions is about 20 – 25 % and rises up to 50 – 95 % in the monsoons.

Precipitation varies between 500 mm to 1500 mm per year. In India wet season is accompanied by strong winds from the southwest and dry cold winds from the northeast. Hot and dry winds are the characteristic of summers in this zone.

Frequent rainfall in this season results in an overcast sky with clouds, which block off the solar radiation, and day temperatures which are not so high as it is in either purely dry or purely humid areas.
Due to variations in temperature and humidity, this zone experiences a varied range of vegetation.
In India, the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi and parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana and Maharashtra experience Composite climatic conditions.
